Week Nine Blog Forum

WEEK 9 MEDIA BLOG FORUM QUESTIONS  TOPIC 1: MUSIC'S INFLUENCE   The one and probably the only time my music choice has been restricted is probably for pre game warm up songs. High school and college both had pretty strict rules about the type and lyrics of music we were allowed to listen to for the warm up CD. I was never upset about it, and it made sense as children and adults were at the games and they probably wouldn't appreciate a bunch of cuss words. I really like country music and ballad style songs. My favorite artists are probably Eric Church, Josh Garrels, ABBA, Sugarland, and Zac Brown Band.  TOPIC 2: CAMPUS RADIO   I do not think I would listen to a school radio show, personally I dislike the radio and I'm not sure what the radio show would even talk about. I think they would have to do a program that followed the sports teams and then possibly a program that followed the current events (maybe things that are included in the campus wide emails.) I thin

TOPIC 1: BANNED BOOKS AND YOUR BOOKSHELF I have read “Thirteen Reasons Why”, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, and “The Kite Runner”.  I really enjoyed all these books. To Kill a Mockingbird is one that was a required read for my sophomore english class. I’ve noticed that is a common trend among high schools. I have read a lot of dystopian books, some authors include Suzanne Collins, Kiera Cass, and Dave Eggers. I think these are all similarly themed books, maybe they would say I am into adventure and challenge, but I am not sure. TOPIC 2: MAGAZINES I really don’t read magazines, I guess the most I read are Cosmopolitan and P

Topic #4 -- Media Product Review I have read the book “The Circle” by Dave Eggers. It is an incredible, suspenseful book filled with the obsession of social media. Below is a photo that briefly describes the Circle and its morals. The Circle was recently made into a movie as well, I have yet to see it. This book focus’ on a female main character named Mae Holland. Her best friend Annie gets her a job at the most prestigious company, The Circle. The Circles goal is to connect everything; bank accounts, employers, media accounts, devices and more. This story follows her journey through the company. The author, Dave Eggers, won a Pulitzer Prize in 2002 and earlier founded a magazine company. He also co-wrote the screenplay for Where the Wild Things Are. IDreamBooks states, “ The Circle has a score of 66% based on reviews from 50 critics”. I thought the books was a lot better than a 66% but I really enjoy books that follow plots similar to this one. This book is very unique and foll
